Here's a story I'm pretty pleased with...I'm starting to discover I like the trouble shooting type stories. Who knew, I'm a wimp when it comes to confrontation, but I like the idea of stories that can make a difference.

I like this word...maybe soon I will be able to look out at the Ocean and actually use it. And sound really smart and cool. Must get back to Vancouver as soon as possible...

After my last exciting blog post I am here to share with you five more stories about the wonders of Saskatoon. My brand new adopted, very cold city. Perhaps I will dedicate this post to the restaurants of this bustling metropolis.  So here we go….Saskatoon has many delicious restaurants. Something I was a little surprised to learn. Not chain restaurants either, locally owned ones so here are a few of my favorite.
  1. So far I think my best meal in the city might have been Sushiro. It’s a delicious sushi place right by my house…sushi in Saskatoon. Who knew. But oh boy they are good at what they do.
  2.  EE Burrito is a really cool Mexican place I did a story on since they were featured on the Food Network show “You Gotta Eat Here”. Good food, Better people.  And when they offered to make me lunch a poor starving unpaid intern like me couldn’t say no. And that was a fantastic decision.
  3. If you’re not feeling that hungry but you need a pick me up. Go to the Broadway Roastery. It was the first place I went to in the city and let me tell you..they make a mean scone and a hell of a French Press.
  4. Another great Mexican place is Los Palapas. It’s kind of hidden in the middle of nowhere but my roommate practically dragged me there when I first moved it. They make really delicious Tacos and enchiladas. Yummy and calorie free.
  5. Another popular place is State and Main. Unlike the other restaurants I listed this is a chain. Same owners as Original Joes actually. But hey they make yummy food in a cool lounge atmosphere.

There are just some of the restaurants I have been to so far. There’s still so many in the city I have to try maybe once I start getting paid I’ll look in to it.

Since I arrived in Saskatoon 3 months ago a lot has changed for me. I've started to feel more at home in a city I barely knew before, to the point that I may actually miss it if I end up leaving in April. Here are some things you may not know if you've never been to Saskatoon before.
  1. It’s very, very cold and windy. I may only being saying this now because it is mid March and almost -20 today. But come on. Warm up already.
  2. Hoodies=bunny hugs. I have yet to say this yet and probably never will because that’s a weird name for a hoodie in my opinion.
  3. The university has this thing called the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron. I have done 3 stories on it and I still don’t totally know what it is. I do know that it helps conduct tons of scientific research. Like make medical Isotopes.
  4. A culvert is one of those drains you find in ditches. Do not tell people you work with that you don’t know what they’re called..they will mock you. Apparently they discovered Edmontonian’s are clueless when it comes to culverts when Jessica Kent blew our cover at a story on them. So they have been testing us since.
  5. The Company PotashCorp sponsors everything in the city. I mean everything. We Day-sponsored by Potashcorp. Anything involving huskies athletics-sponsored by Potashcorp. Also I have learned what Potash is.

Here is a photo of the incredibly flat/ long/boring highway from Edmonton to Saskatoon.
Well I really suck at this whole blogging thing. To be honest I forgot about this until I saw something cool on the internet and thought I should show people this. And ta-dah! Here it is...http://imgur.com/a/w9nHF

How cool/ scary is that? What I learned is I eat way to much bacon.

Now on to my interning adventures. So far I have been enjoying my time in Saskatoon more then I expected to actually. Work is great and I'm getting tons of experience. The highlights so far for me have been when my Hyundai/Kia lawsuit piece was the shows top story and got picked up and aired in Edmonton on the weekend newscast (my hometown) and when I got to interview Theo Fleury about the Graham James verdict (If you haven't heard of the story, look it up it's crazy).

I'm looking forward to all the interviews and projects to come in the 2 months I still have to go.

Well it's official. I am now a Saskatoon resident and I even made it official by purchasing my first plaid/flannel shirt. Transition complete...kinda.

I am all moved to "The Paris of the Prairies" as they call it. And so far I'm enjoying it. Don't get me wrong it's ridiculously cold here, but I am willing to ignore that and focus on the excitement that is living in a brand new city that I get to explore.

Today was my second day at Global and so far I'm really enjoying it! It was a big of a shock on day 1 going from such a huge market that was CTV Vancouver to Saskatoon. But I'm sure it won't take long for me to get accustomed to it.

I went out on a story yesterday with one of the other reporters the very talented Shallima. She was working on a story about "Idle No More" and the misconceptions that have sprouted up since the beginning of the movement.

And today I wrote a VOSOT about Big Brothers and Big Sisters that's going to run on the 6 o'clock news tonight. So far things are going well, so I look forward to what the future will bring.

As far as the city goes it's a balmy +3 today and although I haven't been outside in the past 6 hours, soon I will be able to soak in the "rays". And by soak in the rays I mean go grocery shopping and try to locate some damn produce in this city.
